Surprise!!

Expecting the unexpected!!Surprises come in all shapes and sizes, times and seasons, good and bad ones.I remember one time when a good surprise left me standing still in utter shock while screaming my lungs out like a  mad person. It was like looking at a ghost!!I hadn't won a prize or anything close to a gift,it was just an unannounced visit from my sweetest big sister who was the last person i would expect ringing the doorbell...to some that might not really mean much but to me, it was like a dream come true!  Even with  good surprises, i admit am not much of a  fan of the unexpected, mainly because there's no time for mental preparation and being caught  off-guard  is a tad bit overwhelming.…but the last two days have taught me a few things  about these mini surprises that life brings along; Reality comes with  an element of surprise, not because it wants to upset the balance of our lives, but because we were too “unacc...

Thinking about You...

They don't see You like i see You, Because You see more of me than they will ever know, Knowing myself began when i first knew You, The world became like  a clear crystal ball, And I saw everything through clear glass, My future, my past, my present, The now, the middle and the ending, All part of something i don't know. All part of this Big plan,Your plan. I picture this life without You, And the times i have lived it without You, Those were the times i hardly knew who i was, You make life complicated in the most simplistic way, With You around i never have my way. Sometimes it makes me sad,  Then after a while, You show me why and i understand Your way. Ignoring You never works out for me,  You are everywhere and anywhere.... So i can't really run away from You, even if i tried Talking to You is easy and makes my day, Sometimes i forget, and when i do, that's a gloomy day.. I could write on and on about You, But where would i fi...

In my shoes...

In my shoes... Weary foot, keep going.. Nowhere to go but everywhere to stay. Cold breeze my lonely neighbour, warmth the lovely stranger, Out here in the cold.. I see them rushing, I keep staring.. Can they picture a minute in my shoes Too caught up to notice my shoes.. My invisible shoes. Take a mile in their shoes, I would run till the very last end, A step in my shoes, When will this journey ever end? In my shoes, Sores are my heels, The heat, the cold.. All but a familiar feel..

At crossroads...

Left or right, Where to start? North or south, Someone tell me how to figure this out. One step forward, one step back... No where to go, simply stuck Seconds, minutes ,hours, days, years... How long will it take to let go of this fears. Choosing between unknowns.. Taking risks, taking the first step

If life was a movie...

If life was a movie, Take 1, Take 2, Take 3.. Take it till its perfect. If life was a movie, Beauty would lie in the eye of the camera. Lights, camera, action!! Fake it to perfection!! If life was a movie, The music would rhyme with every moment.. If life was a movie, The hero would jump in at any moment.. If life was a movie, I would have a re-take of every moment.. If life was a movie, I would never have treasured every moment. If life was a movie, Every re-make would come with a new script, If life was a movie, You would have a double, Forget about being unique! If life was a movie.. Ratings would be the judge, To please the crowd, Forget about being yourself! Life is  no movie, But i still get to be the star, Star of my own little show.. The lifetime show called "My life"

Man or machine...

We all have that phase when we listen to a  new song over and over again until the lyrics  become like that nursery rhyme we once had stuck in our brain when we were kids. The song becomes part of our routine, craving to hear it every waking moment of the day ( maybe that's just me) .Anyway, a few months ago, that song for me was Human by Christina Perri. I admit, that song may not be as catchy as i thought it was,but her lyrics got me hooked! Two months down the line i put my earphones on in a traffic jam and guess what song comes first on my playlist... " But I'm only human And I bleed when I fall down I'm only human And I crash and I break down Your words in my head, knives in my heart You build me up and then I fall apart Cause I'm only human" Then my mind flashed back to an article i had read online ( can't put my fingers on where i had read it,sorry) Anyway, i remember this particular article because it featured 33 real life cases of ...

A million tears in a thousand hills

It's hard to forget something that turns your life upside down ,it's harder still  not to wonder how life would have been like growing up in the land of a thousand hills..Sometimes am grateful that i was too young to know the evil that was happening during the Rwandan Genocide..then at other times i keep picturing the lives torn apart and destroyed by the wave of tribal hate. Its during such  times that i realize that the impact of such an atrocity is far greater than remembering every single act committed. My memories for the 1994 Rwandan Genocide are like a blank page slowly being filled by the stories  am told..endless accounts of nights of terror and days of struggle. Some lived to tell their stories while others had nothing but a corpse to re-tell their 100 days of horror. The one thing that  has always disturbed my conscious was the question why?Why shed the blood? Why let innocent lives get tortured ?Why kill another just like you? It's like a story of t...
