Feeling Inspired...(Part 2)

I like a man who thinks. I like a man who's witty, who  always gets what he wants when all odds are against him. I like a man who's ready to roll up his sleeves and dig through the dirt, literally . I like a man with a past, fearless of who he is and ready to battle his demons. I like a man who's vulnerable enough to let his guard down,  yet strong enough to protect his ego. I can't get enough of that man .  Thomas Shelby, 5 years gone by in 5 days, and I can't stop watching you!  10 minutes before watching Peaky Blinders  "great reviews, but why the dull scenes? I need colour and less murk. Can I really stand the fight scenes, too much blood for me. I need something funny, this doesn't look like it. Oh well, it has good reviews, it must be good for something. Might as well watch. If I don't like it, then I'll sleep" 40 minutes into Peaky Blinders  "okay, this took a turn, a museum...simpler times for spies huh" 6 e...

Salty thoughts with #SaltBae

17 days into the year 2017, and with no resolutions to tie me back to 2016 or 2018. All I have is a choice, the one choice will all look for in life..."to be happy". I don't want to sound like another self-help/inspirational/motivational blog, yet somehow I  usually end up sounding just like that ( so am told).  So with the "new year, new me" hype, I choose to be happy and stick to the old me.  Over the past few years, everyone's turned into a blogger or photographer or YouTube personality, and subconsciously this has been one of the reasons I became inactive on my own blog. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for every one out there trying to be a star following their passion or earning  a living online. Yet, honestly speaking, the whole idea has diluted my own objectives of having started a blog. Of course, I wouldn't mind making a few extra shillings on the side while doing what I consider to be therapeutic. What I don't want is...

"Stop overthinking...but don't stop thinking" My 5-month hiatus

What happens when your world changes? When everything around you no longer seems to fit perfectly... Stop believing that the world changes, it's always been the same... Start believing that all you need is a change of plan. What happens when you stop dreaming? When the one thing you woke up believing, was the one thing that you lost faith in... Stop dreaming, so much will pass you by with your eyes closed up... Start taking chances with new realities, with eyes wide open to seize new goals. What happens when you stop trusting? When the one person you could always count on, stopped believing in you.. Stop trusting everyone, faith in yourself  is what matters.. Start trusting God,  faith in Him is what matters most. Why I'll never graduate...

It’s been 16 years of trying to be somebody, trying to go somewhere, of sometimes waking up and paying attention (All you Sister Act Fans will get what am trying to say,if not click this  link ) .But now that it’s all said and done, I know I’ve got more sleepless nights and tireless reading sessions in future. To be honest, all through these 16 years of education, I’ve only learnt one important lesson .Which is, books will FOREVER be in my life and that’s just a reality that I can’t run away from. I will never stop learning, and I will never stop reading. I might have thrown away the crayons and scribbled notes from pre-school, but I will never stop scribbling down crazy ideas and doodles when am bored or excited. I might have forgotten all the crazy and confusing chemical names from high school, but I will never stop reading the labels on my medical prescriptions even when I don’t know what Benzonatate really means (and I use it a lot!) I might forget what Quantum theory is and...

Kings and Queens

Mirror mirror on the wall, Who’s the fairest of them all? Mirror mirror on the wall, Who’s the gentlest of them all? Fair lady, warm heart… Gentle man, brave heart… To conquer the world, That’s what your heart was made for… Kings and queens, You rule the world, Souls made of steel, And power that no man can steal… Kings and queens, Mirrors do lie… Look deep within, To see the crown that’s always been there! (LyricalUmy)

Who's pulling the trigger??

The lying game, the blame game, the power hunger games ..politics as we know it!(that's just my  opinion) The last couple of days i have seen these three games being played and replayed all over the news, and even though i prefer to keep off the political arena, i just had to put this down on paper or screen. The infamous Al Shabab strike again, up north we have the Boko Haram, #bringbackourgirls,...who knows what else is out there just waiting to make the headlines. Watching news has been more or less, like watching a horror movie slowly unfolding...everyone's pointing fingers and no one's remembering the one rule that a kindergarten teacher once told me, "point one finger at someone and the other three will be pointing to you".No one seems to point out how everything is clearly being handled along tribal lines, political and religious affiliations. And who's to blame?? I say everyone! yes, everybody, every single one of the 7billion world population ( with ...

It don't matter if you're black or white...

" I AM NOT MY HAIR" ...."It DON'T MATTER IF YOU'RE BLACK OR WHITE" these are the words to two songs that have been replaying in my head since last week's The Trend Show with Larry Madowo.Social media was a buzz with Vera's interview and her confident proclamation of her body being her business ( makes you think what she really meant by 'business') In all honesty, am no fan of hers, but the interview and all the comments made online about it, gave me a lot to reflect on which led to an interesting conversation with Rodney Onyango. His take on the matter gave me new perspective and i admit, it kept me from being too judgemental. For more of his ideas, check out his link The Spectator Someone must really hate being black.50million! I could think of 50 million ways to spend that cash other than changing the colour of my skin.Anyway, who am i to judge when it's clear that we have different priorities, needs, wants and skin preference...

In my shoes...

In my shoes... Weary foot, keep going.. Nowhere to go but everywhere to stay. Cold breeze my lonely neighbour, warmth the lovely stranger, Out here in the cold.. I see them rushing, I keep staring.. Can they picture a minute in my shoes Too caught up to notice my shoes.. My invisible shoes. Take a mile in their shoes, I would run till the very last end, A step in my shoes, When will this journey ever end? In my shoes, Sores are my heels, The heat, the cold.. All but a familiar feel..

A million tears in a thousand hills

It's hard to forget something that turns your life upside down ,it's harder still  not to wonder how life would have been like growing up in the land of a thousand hills..Sometimes am grateful that i was too young to know the evil that was happening during the Rwandan Genocide..then at other times i keep picturing the lives torn apart and destroyed by the wave of tribal hate. Its during such  times that i realize that the impact of such an atrocity is far greater than remembering every single act committed. My memories for the 1994 Rwandan Genocide are like a blank page slowly being filled by the stories  am told..endless accounts of nights of terror and days of struggle. Some lived to tell their stories while others had nothing but a corpse to re-tell their 100 days of horror. The one thing that  has always disturbed my conscious was the question why?Why shed the blood? Why let innocent lives get tortured ?Why kill another just like you? It's like a story of t...

Global warNing

If someone had asked me what global warming was, a week ago, i would have probably said something along the lines of,  “it’s all about heating up the earth and it’s a bad thing because  people will die and blah blah ozone layer blah greenhouse gases blah blah melting ice caps blah blah…” I knew what global warming was and the science behind this famous phenomenon. But honestly, I  didn't  think much about it until I went through my internship orientation…long story short, i   learnt something new . I realized how easily we can ignore the consequences of our actions merely because  the consequences aren't   instantaneous   . My re-education on global warming made me  scared and  guilty, yes guilty, for all those times I let that biscuit wrapper fall to the ground and never thought about it…for always thinking that this heating up of the earth was never my problem but  for some environmental  activist who ran around shoutin...
